and martin luther king, those are families that own and will always be there forever and ever. you tell those folks, hey, we're going to make sure the commercial people, not the vbd, not the merchants, we're going to make sure they live up to their responsibility. they are supposed to make sure the doors are open for people to come in and do a lot of events and things. picture this if you would, instead of busses coming in at 5:00, what if you create the traffic there. they are right now in a serious crisis but it's just a block away. everybody is looking for foot traffic. everybody is looking for an opportunity to do things, bring people from somewhere, all you have to do is walk up the street and say for the next 30 days we're going to make sure there's a terrible outrageous discount so you folks can participate because they don't participate. the foot traffic is right there so you change the name, that's like going to fillmore and golden gate street and telling everybody on that block, we're going to name this happy corner. it don't make sense to change names. what makes sense

onboard that bus got into an argument with a male passenger. as the bus traveled south on martin luther king avenue, things got violent. male passenger stabbed one of the females several times in the chest, arms, legs. the woman she had been riding with was beaten in the head and face. possibly with some kind of object. authorities say that one of the victims alerted the driver who stopped the bus and alerted police. the attacker ran and remains at large. it was back on december 9 when a woman with a baby was shot and killed as she tried to board a metro bus on minnesota avenue. the baby was wounded as was the bus driver. these two violent crimes have those that ride metro bus calling for more protection. especially on routes that run into the wee hours of the morning. when passengers and drivers can be vulnerable and drivers can't operate the bus and do security, t t t too. metro has stepped up its bus security. video cameras are onboard many buses. that's where police began their investigation. looking at onboard camera video. but riders say a might where people are encouraged to take
